“Romero says native peoples are determined to take back the lands in the path of the pipeline, which could transport 570,000 barrels a day from the Bakken oil field in northwestern North Dakota to southern Illinois — more than the daily output of Ecuador, a member of OPEC. ” – LA TIMES

How far are you willing to go for what you believe in?

Everywhere in the news lately, I’ve been seeing articles about Native Americans protesting against the construction of a pipeline on their reserved land. The protesters camped out at the land, refusing to allow the corporation to further damage their beautiful land. I find it very heartwarming that these people are able to work as a team in order to fight for what they believe in, even throughout all the threats and cold.

As whole, they give out a much stronger voice than as an individual – they would go great lengths in order to protect their beliefs. I am completely amazed and fascinated by their amazing perseverance – for I feel as though I lack greatly in that area. I hope to one day be able to not run away from those in my way – and the stand up for what I believe in.
